Among the Panch Kedars Kedarnath is said to be the holiest and most sacred. Standing at the head of the Mandakini valley, Kedarnath is ringed by lofty Himalayan peaks providing the most stunning setting. Over a thousand years old, majestic in style and in architecture the temple is built of massive stone slabs over a large rectangular platform. One of the twelve Jyotirlingas this temple is one of the holiest shrine in India. A gilded pinnacle tops the structure and the large gray steps of the temple have inscriptions in Pali or Brahmi.

6 Kilometers from Kedarnath lies the crystal clear lake Vasuki Tal. Glistening blocks of ice float on its waters. The lake is in the most beautiful setting with the Himalayan peaks close by.
